PLAY WITH MY HAIR
身体发肤,受之父母,不敢毁伤,孝之始也。
“Our bodies – from each piece of hair to every inch of skin – are received by us from our parents, and we must not presume to injure or wound them. This is the beginning of filial piety.”
As the Confucian saying demonstrates, hair holds an important place in Chinese culture. It is, after all, a unique form of self-expression. Over time, Chinese hairstyles have evolved from symbols of ethnicity, class and political alignment to an expression of individuality and style.
